Lose weight by stair climbing exercise
Can you really lose weight by stair climbing? First of all, let me tell you something – you CAN lose weight, it’s really not a big deal. You just have to be careful about the food that you eat and make more efforts than you usually do. Dieting is not all about food deprivation and spending money on gym subscriptions. You can do a more besides going to the gym or paying for professional advices and supervision.
Stair climbing is a very simple exercise that anybody can perform at home. I am sure you know what this exercise is about, since its name is pretty much self-explanatory. All you really have to do is run up and down the stairs between several floors; the more floors, the better!
It would be really good if you start small, even if you are in pretty good physical condition. You should run up and down 4 floors 2 times. Keep in mind that first timers and overweight people will unlikely manage more than 2 reps anyway. If you cannot do more than 2 reps in the beginning, it is really not a big deal, don’t worry about it! Resistance to effort is built in time. You should do 2 reps every other day for 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks you should increase the number of reps to either 3 or 4, depending on how you feel. If you feel that you can take 4 reps up and down 4 flights of the stairs, please do so! If you cannot do it, then stick to 3 reps. As the weeks go by, you can add even more reps to the routine in order to increase your endurance and to really put the muscles to work.
This exercise is perfect for your legs. If you are looking to build strong thighs, you should really try stair climbing. When you have to carry your own weight up the stairs instead of flat terrain, then this puts more stress on the muscles and helps your feet gain more endurance. However, you should be careful when climbing stairs. When you run up and down the stairs, this makes it very easy to trip or miss a step and splay an ankle. If you are not careful enough, even more serious injuries might happen. With this in mind, if you are careful and persistent, stair climbing might be a really beneficial exercise for you!
